Er wurde in Irvington NJ 1924 geboren und er erhielt Auszeichnungen von der "Eastman School of Music" und von der "McGill University". Seine Kompositionslehrer waren Bernard Rogers von der "Eastman School", Darius Milhaud in Tanglewood und Nadia Boulanger in Tonainebleau. Er und seine Frau Mary Ellen haben vier erwachsene Söhne. Er ist "Professor Emeritus of Music" an der "Crane School of Music", im Potsdam College of SUNY. Von 1949-1985 lehrte er Theorie, Komposition, Piano und class-piano. Er erhielt folgende Preise: Erster Preis in Komposition in Fontainebleau 1950, den "Ford Foundation Grant" 1959-60, verschiedene "fellowships" von der "State University of NY Research Foundation", jährliche ASCAP Preise seit 1961 und den "SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching" 1982. Zusätzlich zu einem Keyboard Harmony Text hat er über 250 Instrumental- und Vokalkompositionen und Arrangements veröffentlicht. Seine Musik wurde in den ganzen Vereinigten Staaten, sowie in Canada, Europa, Australien und Japan aufgeführt. Einige seiner Arrangements wurde von "Canadian Brass" aufgenommen.

He was born in Irvington NJ in 1924 and received degrees from the Eastman School of Music and McGi11 University. His compositions teachers were Bernard Rogers at the Eastman School, Darius Milhaud at Tanglewood and Nadia Boulanger at Fontainebleau. He and his wife Mary E11en have four grown sons. He is Professor Emeritus of Music at the Crane School of Music, Potsdam College of SUNY. From 1949-1985 he taught theory, composition, piano and class piano. He received the following awards: First Prize in Composition at Fontainebleau in 1950, Ford Foundation Grant in 1959-60, several fellowships from the State University of NY Research Foundation, annual ASCAP awards since 1961, and the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1982. In addition to a keyboard harmony text, he has had published over 250 instrumental and voca1 compositions and arrangements. His music has been performed throughout the United States as well as in Canada, Europe, Australia and Japan. Several of his arrangements have been recorded by the Canadian Brass.
