Den ersten Kontakt zur Musik fand der Komponist im elterlichen Haus: sein Vater spielte Geige und Saxophon. Ab dem 12. Lebensjahr fand er sich speziell zur Musik hingezogen und erlernte autodidaktisch Schlagzeug. Mit 17 nahm er erstmals Unterricht und studierte nun nach Noten. Nebenbei beschäftigte er sich auch am Klavier, ebenfalls autodidaktisch und ohne Noten. Von 1981 bis 1987 studierte er Schlagzeug am Brucknerkonservatorium Linz (OÖ) bei Johann Gschwandtner. Derzeit ist er an der Landesmusikschule Schärding Lehrer für Schlagzeug und versucht auch dort, "kreative Geister" zu wecken und zu fördern.

Josef Sperl was born on the 19th of November 1961 in Schärding (Upper Austria - Austria). He first got in contact with music in the house of his parents. His father was playing the violin and saxophone. From his 12th year on he especially was drawn to music and he tought himself the drums. With 17 he took his first lessons and he learned to read the notes. Apart from this he also was playing the piano autodidactic and without notes. From 1981 to 1987 he studied the drums at the Brucknerkonservatorium in Linz at Johann Gschwandtner. (Upper Austria) At the moment he is a teacher for drums at the musicschool in Schärding and he tries to "wake up" creative spirits and to further them.

Josef Sperl est ne le 19 novembre 1961 a Schärding en Haute-Autriche. Son premier contact avec la musique eut lieu dans la maison familiale: son père jouait du violon et du saxophone. Dès l'âge de douze ans, il se sentit particulièrement attire par la mu i ue.I1 apprit a jouer de la batterie tout seul. Il prit des cours pour la première fois a 1'age de dix-sept ans et étudia alors comme il faut tout en s'adonnant aussi au piano , dont il apprit a jouer tout seul et sans notes. De 1981 à 1987, il fit des études de musique (instrument: batterie) auprès de Johann Gschwandtner au Conservatoire Bruckner de Linz ( Haute-Autriche ).Actuellement, il enseigne à jouer de la batterie a 1'école de musique régionale de Schärding ( La.ndesmusikschule Schärding) où il essaie d'éveiller "les âmes créatives" pour les faire progresser.
