Dirk Brossé wurde 1960 in Gent (Belgien) geboren. An den Königlichen Musikhochschulen von Gent und Brüssel studierte er Trompete, Kontrabass und Musiktheorie. An der Musikhochschule Köln (Bundesrepublik Deutschland) schloß er bei Professor Volker Wangenheim seine Ausbildung mit dem Diplom für Orchesterdirektion erfolgreich ab. Weiteren Unterricht erhielt er bei berühmten Musikpädagogen in den Niederlanden, in Frankreich und in Österreich. Als Trompeter spielte er in zahlreichen Orchestern, so auch im World Youth Orchestra (Jeunesses Musicales). Darüber hinaus ist Dirk Brossé auch ein vielgefragter Gastdirigent. So dirigierte er das Elgin Symphony Orchestra in Chicago und das Pro Art Kammerorchester in Wien. Dirk Brossé ist ständiger Dirigent des Flanders Soundtrack Orchestra, des Brüsseler Trompetenchors und des Brüsseler Internationalen Jugendorchesters. Neben seiner umfangreichen Dirigententätigkeit, schriebt Dirk Brossé nicht nur Lieder, sinfonische Werke und Theatermusik, sondern auch vermehrt Filmmusik. Im Jahre 1989 wurde er für seine Musik im Film "Boerenpsalm" (Bauernpsalm) mit dem C.A.I.M Preis für die beste belgische Filmmusik ausgezeichnet.

Dirk Brossé was born in Ghent, Belgium, in 1960. He studied the trumpet, double bass and theory at the Royal Conservatories of Ghent and Brussels and graduated in conducting with prof. Volker Wangenheim at the Cologne Musikhochschule in Germany. Additionally he studied with a number of notable music teachers in the Netherlands, France and Austria. As a trumpetist Dirk Brossé played in several orchestras, including the World Youth Orchestra (Jeunesses Musicales). Due to his education in Cologne, he has received many invitations to appear as a guest conductor. Thus, he has conducted, amongst others, the Elgin Symphony Orchestra of Chicago and the Pro Arte chamber orchestra of Vienna. Dirk Brossé is resident conductor of the Flanders Soundtrack Orchestra, the Brussels Trumpetchoir and the Brussels International Youth Orchestra. Besides writing songs, symphonic works and theater music, nowadays Dirk Brossé also composes film music. In 1989 he received the C.A.I.M. award (for the most outstanding Belgian film score) for his music for the film "Boerenpsalm".
