Clifton Williams, geboren in Arkansas besuchte die "Little Rock High School", wo er das "French Horn" in der Band spielte. Seine musikalische Ausbildung wurde an der "Louisiana State University" und der "Eastman School of Music" vollendet. Er war siebzehn Jahre lang ein Fakultätsmitglied der "University of Texas" in Austin und 1966 wurde er Vorsitzender der Abteilung für Theorie-Komposition an der "University of Miami School of Music" in Florida.

A native of Arkansas, Clifton Williams was a graduate of Little Rock High School where he played French Horn in that renowned band. His musical education was completed at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, and the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, New York. He was a member of the music faculty of the University of Texas at Austin for seventeen years, and in 1966 he became Chairman of the Department of Theory-Composition at the University of Miami School of Music, Coral Gables, Florida.
