Grossman studied with Freyer early in life in Warsaw. He lived in Berlin where he continued his studies with Rugenhagen. Upon his return to Warsaw Grossman made public appearances as a pianist, organist and conductor. Secure in a position as co-owner of a business in selling keyboard instruments, he composed and successfully had performed two operas "Rybak z Palermo" and "Duch wojewody." His third opera "Kornet Hamilton," was never performed. A list of Grossman's compositions includes a number of different genres. For the opening of the Suez Canal he wrote a cantata. He composed an operetta "Les sabots de la marquise," and at least three overtures, "Overture in E-mol" and one for "King Lear" and "Maria." Other genres included ballet suites, a piano concerto, chamber music, songs, and pieces for piano and organ
