Anne McGinty gehört zu den anerkanntesten weiblichen Komponisten auf dem Gebiet der Konzertbandliteratur. Ihre zahlreichen Kompositionen und Arrangements (über 150 Titel), wobei alle veröffentlicht wurden, gehen von Unterstufenwerken bis hin zum Hochschulniveau. Sie und ihr Ehemann, John Edmondson, betreiben gemeinsam mit anderen die "Queenwood Publications" und sind für die Produktion, Marketing, und internationalen Verkauf und Vertreibung des Queenwood's Katalog der Konzertbandmusik verantwortlich. Sie begann ihre höhere Ausbildung an der "Ohio State University", wo Donald McGinnis ihr Mentor, Banddirektor und Flötenlehrer war. Später verfolgte sie ihre Karriere bei Flötenaufführungen und sie spielte die erste Flöte im "Tucson (Arizona) Symphony Orchestra", weiters im "Tucson Pops Orchestra", und im "TSO Woodwind Quintet", das durch die Gunst der Regierung durch Arizona tourte. Als sie an das College zurückkehrte, wurde ihr von Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, der "Bachelor of Music", "summa cum laude", und ein "Master of Music" verliehen. Dort konzentrierte sie sich auf die Flötenaufführung, Musiktheorie und Komposition. Unter Bernard Goldberg studierte sie Flöte und Kammermusik und Kompositionsstunden nahm sie bei Joseph Willcox Jenkins. Sehr engagiert beteiligt sie sich im Vorstand der "National Flute Association". In zahlreichen Colleges des Mittleren Westens unterrichtete sie Flöte, genauso wie sie aber auch unterpriviligierte Kinder förderte und ihnen Musik näherbrachte. Weiters war sie Leiterin der "Royal American Regiment Five and Drum Corps". Später war sie dann professionell als Flötistin in Orchestern, Kammermusikgruppen und auch als Flötenvortragende für einen Erzeuger tätig. Sie war auch die Autorin einer Flötenkolumne eines Musikmagazins und die Mitbegründerin des NFA Newsletter, der heute als "The Flutists' Quarterly" bekannt ist. Obwohl sie heute nicht mehr länger als Flötistin auftritt, verbleibt sie jedoch als Flötenchorspezialistin weitbekannt. Sie war es, die als erste zwei große Verleger dazu veranlasste eine Serie für Flötenchor herauszugeben. Als Flötenverlegerin bei Hansen Publications in Miami Beach, Florida, arrangierte und produzierte sie eine solche Flötenchorserie. Sie komponierte und arrangierte weiters Musik für Soloflöte, Flöte mit Klavierbegleitung, Flötenduette, Trios und Quartette, genauso wie auch Werke für Flötenchor. Zu ihren Aufgaben zählen auch die Mitgliedschaft in der "American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers" (ASCAP). Zahlreiche jährliche Kompositionspreise hat sie seit 1986 erzielt. Sie erhielt den "Golden Rose Award" von der "Women Band Directors National Association" und den "Outstanding Service to Music Award" von "Tau Beta Sigma", eine nationale Studentinnenvereinigung. Selbstverständlich scheint sie in der Liste der "Who's Who of American Women" auf und auch in der "International Who'SE Who in Music". Anne McGinty ist auch als Gastdirigentin, Vortragende und Sprecherin in ganz USA und Kanada tätig. Sie dirigierte in vielen Band, gab Vorträge bei Konventionen und an Universitäten auf dem Gebiet der Bandaufführung wie zu vielen anderen Themengebieten, die alle mit der Aufführung und Freude zur Musik und dem Wert der Musikerziehung in Zusammenhang stehen. Andere Interesse sind Gewichteheben, das Lesen von Krimis, genauso wie auch das Erlernen des Dudelsacks und das Umsorgen ihrer beiden Katzen (Stars and Stipes).

Anne McGinty is the most prolific woman composer in the field of concert band literature. Her many compositions and arrangements (over 150 titles), all of which have been published, extend from the elementary through the college level. She and her husband, John Edmondson, are co-owners of Queenwood Publications and are responsible for the creation, production, promotion and international sales and distribution of Queenwood's catalog of concert band music. She began her higher education at "The Ohio State University", where Donald McGinnis was her mentor, band director and flute teacher. She left OSU to pursue a career in flute performance, and played principal flute with the "Tucson (Arizona) Symphony Orchestra", "Tucson Pops Orchestra", and in the "TSO Woodwind Quintet", which toured Arizona under the auspices of a government grant. When she returned to college, she received her "Bachelor of Music", summa cum laude, and a "Master of Music" from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she concentrated on flute performance, music theory and composition. She studied flute and chamber music with Bernard Goldberg and composition with Joseph Willcox Jenkins. She is a life member of the "National Flute Association" and served on it's Board of Directors. She taught flute at several colleges in the Mid-West, taught flute and chamber music to underprivileged children and was leader of a "Royal American Regiment Five and Drum Corps". She continued to perform professionally in orchestras, chamber groups and as a flute clinician for a manufacturer. She also was the editor of a flute column for a music magazine and co-founder of the NFA Newsletter, now known as "The Flutists' Quarterly". Although no longer performing as a flutist, Ms. McGinty remains well known as a flute choir specialist and was the first person to convince two major educational music publishers to publish a series for flute choir. As the flute editor at Hansen Publications in Miami Beach, Florida, she arranged and produced the first such flute choir series. She has composed and arranged music for solo flute, flute with piano accompaniment, flute duets, trios and quartets, as well as flute choirs. She is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) and has received annual composition awards since 1986. She received the Golden Rose Award from the Women Band Directors National Association and the Outstanding Service to Music Award from Tau Beta Sigma, a national honorary band sorority. She is listed in Who's Who of American Women and the International Who'SE Who in Music. Ms. McGinty is also active as a guest conductor, clinician and speaker throughout the United States and Canada. She has conducted regional and all-state bands, given clinics at many state conventions and universities on band performance, literature and emotions in music. and has given speeches at state and national conventions, with many diverse topics, all of which are related to the performance and enjoyment of music and the values of music education. Her other interests include weight lifting, reading murder mysteries, learning to play the bagpipes and nurturing her two cats, Stars and Stripes.
