Mark Williams wurde in Chicago, Illinois, geboren und wuchs in Spokane, Washington, auf. Er schloß sein Studium an der Eastern Washington University sowohl mit der B.A.- als auch mit der M.Ed-Prüfung ab. Seit über zehn Jahren unterrichtet er Bands an Schulen, wobei er sich auf die Unterstufe spzialisiert hat. Er ist Co-Autor der Bandmethode "Accent on Achievement" und hat zahlreiche Kompositionen für Band, Orchester und Chor veröffentlicht. Darüber hinaus gewann er den Wettbewerb der Western International Band Clinic Gralia für die beste neue Komposition für Junior High Band. Als Musiker und Arrangeur der 560th Air Force Band bereiste er Europa und den pazifischen Raum. Der Preisträger einer ASCAP "Special Awards" ist zunehmend als Komponist und Gastdirigent gefragt.

Mark Williams earned a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees from Eastern Washington University. He taught elementary band for eleven years in Washington and served as director of the Spokane All-City Band Program and the Spokane Elementary Honor Band. Williams was chief arranger for the 560th Air Force Band and is well-known in the Spokane area as a woodwind performer. He currently is a composer for the Alfred Publishing Company, where he has had over seventy works for band published. In addition, he is also String Music Editor for Alfred and has nine published works for orchestra and two for choir. Along with "Greenwillow Portrait", Williams' other original works for band include "The Ash Grove", "Echoes of the Civil War", "Northland Saga", "Fantasy on Yankee Doodle", "Kentucky Ballad" and "March to the Big Top".
