Jay Kennedy ist Vorsitzender der Abteilung für zeitgenössische Komposition und Produktion am Berklee College of Music in Boston. Diese Aufgabe übt er seit Juli 1994 aus. 15 Jahre zuvor begann er in Berklee als Miteigentümer und Präsident von "LA/NY MUSIC", eine Firma, die ihren Sitz in Los Angeles hat und sich auf die Musik für Werbung spezialisierte. Jay Kennedy komponierte und arrangierte gemeinsam mit seinem Partner Mark Vieha die Musik für eine Vielzahl von Werbesendungen. Dafür erzielten sie zahlreiche Preise. Jay Kennedy erhielt sein Diplom (Bachelor of Music Education degree) an der "Northwestern University" in Evanston, Illinois. Er wurde dann verantwortlich für das "UCLA Extension" Programm und trat mit dem "Chicago Symphony Orchestra" auf. Weiters war er auch musikalischer Direktor und Arrangeur für "Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps". Aktiv ist er auch als Jurymitglied für Schlagzeug und Horngruppen tätig, genauso wie auch bei Marschband- und Jazzensemblewettbewerben. Als Vortragender auf dem Gebiet der Komposition von Werbemusik, TV- und Filmmusik, sowie dem Musikgeschäft, Orchestrierung und Jazzarrangierung hat er sich einen großen Namen gemacht.

Jay Kennedy is Chairman of the Contemporary Writing and Production Department at Berklee College of Music in Boston, a position he has held since July, 1994. For 15 years prior to joining Berklee, he was co-owner and President of LA/NY MUSIC, a company based in Los Angeles that specialized in music for commercials. He and his partner, Mark Vieha, composed, arranged and produced music for hundreds of commercials and received numerous awards for their work, including the Mercury Awards Gold Triode, 5 Clio Awards, 3 Belding Awards, 2 Chicago Film Festival first place awards, and 2 Bronze medals from the International Film & Television Festival. Mr. Kennedy received a Bachelor of Music Education degree and a Master of Music degree form Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. He has been an instructor in the UCLA Extension Program and has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He was the musical director and arranger for Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps, and for five years, was Judge Administrator for Drum Corps International. He is an active adjudicator for drum and bugle corps, marching band and jazz ensemble competitions, and a frequent lecturer in the areas of composing and producing music for commercials, television and movies, the business of music, orchestration, and jazz arranging.
