Additional information: POLKA FRANCAISE Johann Strauß spielte im Fasching 1866, genauer gesagt am 6. Februar dieses Jahres mit seinem Orchester am traditionellen Wiener Studentenball. Wie zu dieser Zeit üblich brachte Strauß eine Widmungskomposition mit in die Wiener Hofburg, die Polka "Damenspende", über welche ein Kritiker schrieb: "Diese neue frannzösische Polka von Strauß ist voll prickelnden Lebens", sollte ab diesem Zeitpunkt zum fixen Repertoire der Strauß-Kapelle zählen.
