Name: Sheldon, Robert Geb.: in: {D} Robert Sheldon unterrichtete instrumentale Musik in den öffentlichen Schulen von Florida und Illinois und er arbeitete an der "Faculty at the Florida State University" wo er Dirigieren lehrte und wo er die Universitätsbands leitete. Derzeit führt er ein aktives Kompositions- und Lehrprogramm in Illinois. Wheldon erhielt den "Bachelor of Music degree" an der University of Miami und den "Master of Fine Arts degree" an der University of Florida. Als national anerkannter Vortragender hat Sheldon zahlreiche Bands in und außerhalb der Vereinigten Staaten dirigiert. Er ist Mitglied in verschiedenen Musikorganisationen, die Musik und Musikausbildung fördern. Die "American School Band Directors Association" hat ihn mit dem "Volkwein" Preis für Komposition und dem "Stanbury" Preis für Ausbildung geehrt. Zehn von Sheldon's berühmtesten Bandkompositionen wurden kürzlich von "The Washington Winds" aufgenommen und sind auf einer "New Walking Frog Records compact disc" mit dem Namen "IMAGES: The Music of Robert Wheldon" erhältlich. {E} Robert Sheldon has taught instrumental music in the Florida and lllinois public schools and has served on faculty at the Florida State University where he taught conducting and music education classes and directed the university bands. He now maintains an active composition and teaching schedule in lllinois, and regularly accepts commissions for new works. Sheldon received the Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Miami and the Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Florida. A nationally recognised clinician, Sheldon has conducted numerous Regional and All-State bands throughout the United States and abroad. He holds membership in several music organisations that promote music and music education. The American School Band Directors Association has honored him with the Volkwein Award for composition and the Stanbury Award for teaching. He has also been a five time recipient of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publisher's "Standard Award" for his compositional contributions in the educational repertoire. In 1990, he was honored by the International Assembly of Phi Beta Mu as the International Outstanding Bandmaster of the year. Ten of Sheldon's most popular band compositions have recently been recorded by The Washington Winds and are available on a new Walking Frog Records compact disc entitled "IMAGES: The Music of Robert Sheldon". {F} {NL}
