Der Komponist Willy Hautvast wurde am 31. August 1932 in Maastricht geboren, wo er auch seine Ausbildung erhielt. In der Zeit von 1951 bis 1974 war er Soloklarinettist der niederländischen Musikkapelle der Luftwaffe. Anschließend wurde er zum wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiter und Leiter der Blasmusikabteilung der Musikschule Nijmegen ernannt. Außerdem ist er ordentliches Mitglied des Kollegiums der Jurymitglieder. Seine Lebensaufgabe liegt daher ganz auf dem Gebiet der Blasmusik.

The composer Willy Hautvast was born on the 31st of August 1932 in Maastricht, where he also received his education. From 1951-1974, he acted as solo clarinettist in the Netherlands Royal Air Force Band. Following that, he was appointed as a manager and head of the concert band department of the Nijmegen School of Music. He remains a member of the college of jurists. His life's work, therefore, has beeen centred totally on the wind instrument sector.
