Viele Hunderte von Schulkompositionen verdanken wir Sammy Nestico. In der Zeit von 1968 bis 1984 komponierte er für das "Count Basie Orchestra". Er arrangierte und leitete auch die U.S. Luftwaffenband "Airmen of Note" für die Dauer von 15 Jahren und er war auch für die selbe Tätigkeit 5 Jahre lang für das "Marine Band White House Dance Orchestra" tätig. Er ist nach wie vor als TV und Filmschreiber sehr gefragt und er arrangierte und dirigierte Aufnahmenprojekte für Bing Crosby, Sarah Vaughn, Toni Mennille, Frank Sinatra und viele andere. Im März 1983 wurde ihm der "Doctor of Music degree" verliehen, wobei er neben Andre Previn, Henry Mancini, und Benny Goodman der einzige ist, der diesen Titel trägt.

With hundreds of educational publications to his credit, his remarkable writing career includes composing for the Count Basie Orchestra from 1968 to 1984, arranging for and leading the U.S. Air Force "Airmen of Note" (15 years), and doing the same for the Marine Band's White House dance orchestra (5 years). Sammy is in constant demand as a television and film writer, and has also arranged and conducted recording projects for Bing Crosby, Sarah Vaughn, Toni Tennille, Frank Sinatra and others. In March of 1983, Duquesne University in his hometown of Pittsburgh conferred upon him their honorary Doctor of Music degree. Andre Previn, Henry Mancini, and Benny Goodman are the only others to whom that tribute has been paid.
