Robin De Smet erhielt Unterricht als Klarinettist an der "Royal Military School of Music" und sechs Jahre lang war er ein Mitglied der "Lancashire Fusiliers Band", die ihm die Musik schon im jungen Alter von acht Jahren lehrte. Anschließend folgten 20 Jahre lang Veröffentlichungen in London. Als freischaffender Arrangeur und Komponist zählen beinahe 300 veröffentlichte Arbeiten zu seinen. Er hatte auch immer wieder Beiträge in den verschiedenen Musikmagazinen. Robin trat in verschiedenen Radio- und TV Programmen auf, und auch bei Musikkonzerten, wo er die Violine und Holzblasinstrumente aus der Renaissance in London's South Bank spielte. Er ist ein bemerkenswerter Lehrer und hat eine private Schule in St. Albans. Seine Interessen beinhalten die Malerei, Kunstgeschichte und Reisen.

Robin De Smet trained as a clarinettist at the Royal Military School of Music, Kneller Hall and for sicx years was a member of the band of the Lancashire Fusiliers who taught him music at the age of eighteen. Then followed a twenty year spell in music publishing in London. As a freelance arranger and composer he now has almost 300 published works to his credit in the U.K. U.S.A. and in Europe, issued by various publishers, including a substantial number by Fentone Music. He has contributed extensively to various music magazines. Robin has appeared in several radio and T.V. programmes at home and abroad and has featured in many early music concerts playing viols and renaissance woodwind at London's South Bank. He is a noted peripatetic school woodwind teacher and has a thriving private teaching practice in St. Albans. His interests include painting, the history of art and travelling.
