Nachdem er 1960 den "Master ov Music" an der University of Michigan erwarb, wirkte er bis 1986 an verschiedenen öffentlichen Schulen in Michigan als Lehrer. In den letzten Jahren beschäftigt er sich freiberuflich als Komponist und Arrangeur für Blasorchester und lebt in Greenville, South Carolina.

Andrew Balent has completed degrees at Syracuse University and the University of Michigan. He served as Director of Bands in public schools in New Haven, Connecticut; Utica, New York; and Warren, Ohio. Retired from teaching since 1986, Balent has composed or arranged well over 400 works for beginning bands.
