Louis Emmanuel Jadin was taught violin by his father, Jean B. Jadin. Louis became chief accompanist at the "Theatre de Monsieur" in 1791. In 1792, he joined the Band of the National Guard, which was being organized to perform at the Revolutionary Festivals. For these occasions, he composed many pieces for band and for chorus with wind band accompaniment. Jadin taught piano at the Paris Conservatory from 1796-1816, succeeding his brother, Hyacinthe Jadin. At that time Louis was regarded as one of the finest accompanists in Paris. His first operas appeared in the 1790's. He was a prolific composer, composing for a wide variety of performing media. Several of his works have been arranged for 20th Century bands, including "March of the Bands of the Revolution", "Overture in C", and "Symphony in One Movement".
