Johann Pachelbel ist einer der gefeiertsten Organisten und Komponisten seiner Zeit. Gemeinsam mit Böhm und Buxtehude wird er als wichtigster Vorgänger von J.S. Bach gesehen. Tatsächlich hat Pachelbel unter anderem Johann Christoph Bach, den älteren Bruder des jungen Johann Sebastian, unterrichtet.

Johann Pachelbel was one of the most celebrated organists and composers of his time. Along with Böhm und Buxtehude he is recognized as an important predecessor of J.S. Bach. Indeed, Pachelbel numbered amongst his pupils Johann Christoph Bach - elder brother and first tutor of the young Johann Sebastian.
