Der Komponist, Geigenvirtuose und Pädagoge Charles Dancla, Schüler von Pierre Baillot, war unter anderem auch Professor am Pariser Conservatoire. Als Geigenvirtuose trat er mit berühmten Meistern wie Franz Liszt und César Franck auf. Aus seinem umfangreichen Gesamtwerk haben seine didaktischen Werke für Violine bis heute Bedeutung behalten.

Jean Dancla was a composer, virtuoso violinist and music teacher who studied with Pierre Baillot and, among other things, served as professor at the Paris Conservatoire. As a violinist he appeared with such celebrated masters a Franz Liszt and César Franck. He produced a large body of music of which his didactic works for violin have retained their significance to the present today.
