Rob Goorhuis wurde 1948 in Amsterdam geboren und er studierte das Piano, die Orgel, Musiktheorie, Choral- und Orchestraldirigieren in den Musikakademien von Utrecht, Arnhem und Tilburg. Als Dirigent und Solist hat er zahlreiche Konzerte in Holland genauso wie im Ausland veranstaltet und tourte durch Italien, Polen, Deutschland und Frankreich. Durch Rocus van Yperen wurde er mit der Wind Musik für Fanfare-, Brass- und Harmonieband vertraut gemacht und er begann mit dem Komponieren dafür. Seinen Durchbruch als Komponist schaffte er 1977 als er für den Kulturminister ein Auftragswerk schrieb. Zahlreiche Kompositionen von WMC, NIB, BFO und vielen anderen in Auftrag gegeben folgten. Derzeit arbeitet Rob Goorhuis als Direktor einer Musikschule, als Dirigent und Organist. Sehr häufig ist er auch als Jurymitglied bei Musikbewerben aktiv.

Rob Goorhuis was born in Amsterdam in 1948 and studied piano, organ, music theory, choral and orchestral conducting at the Utrecht, Arnhem and Tilburg Academies of Music. As a conductor and soloist he has given many concerts in Holland and abroad and done tours of Italy, Poland, Germany and France. It was through Rocus van Yperen that Rob became familiar with wind music for fanfare, brass and harmony band, and began to compose pieces for the same. His breakthrough as a composer was in 1977 when he was commissioned by the Ministry of Culture to write a "Concertino for Fanfare Band". Many other commissions were to follow, from WMC, NIB, BFO, the Creative Music Fund and many others. So far he has produced a substantial oeuvre of wind music. At present Rob Goorhuis works as headteacher of a music school, conductor and organ player. He is also a frequent adjudicator at music competitions.
