Clare Grundman's Arbeitsspektrum ist weit gefächert. Er ist allseits bekannt für seine Tätigkeiten für Film, TV, Radio, Ballett und Broadwaymusicals. Besonderes Augenmerk hat er neben dem Komponieren für die fortgeschrittene Band auch auf Schulbands und Collegebands gelegt. Zu einigen seiner Stücke zählen "American Folk Rhapsody No. 4" oder "Tuba Rhapsody". Seine großer Schaffensdrang zeichnet sich auch dadurch aus, daß er in einem berühmten Verlagskatalog mit über 50 Arbeiten für die Band angeführt ist. Seine Ausbildung begann an der "Ohio State University". Später gab er sein Wissen als Lehrer weiter und war für seine höchst fruchtbringende Tätigkeit allseits anerkannt.

Born in 1913 in Cleveland, Ohio, Grundman is unmistakably a leader in the development of American wind literature for the young student. He has composed over sixty works for band, as well as having arranging many orchestral works for band by such composers as Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, Sir Edward Elgar, and Gustav Holst.
