Joaquin Turina wurde 1882 in Sevilla, Spanien, geboren und starb 1949 in Madrid. Er studierte am Konservatorium von Madrid und mit D'Indy und Moszkowski in Paris. Nach seinem Pariser Zusammentreffen mit Albérnix und de Falla entschloß er sich, spanische Volksmusik zu komponieren. Turina kehrte 1913 nach Madrid zurück, wo er zwei symphonische Werke komponierte, eine davon "La Procesion du Rocio", die einzigartige romantische und impressionistische Elemente beinhaltet, eine Kombination, welche in seiner Musik öfter zu finden ist.

Joaquin Turina was born in Seville, Spain in 1882 and died in Madrid in 1949. He studied at the Madrid Conservatory, and in Paris with D'Indy and Moszkowski. Upon his Paris meeting with Albéniz and de Falla, he determined to compose national Spanish music. Turina returned to Madrid in 1913, and composed two symphonic works, one of which is "La Procession du Rocio", uniquely utilizing romantic and impressionistic ingredients, a combination which is found in much of his music.
