Giannini schrieb ein großes Spektrum an verschiedenen Stücken für Kammermusik für Klavier und für Chor. Weiters schuf er zahlreiche Opern, Symphonien und Melodramen für Sopran und Orchester. Seine große Begabung wurde schon recht früh erkannt und gefördert. So trat er bereits im Alter von neun Jahren im "Royal Conservatory" in Mailand ein. Vorher erhielt er von seiner Mutter zu Hause in Philadelphia Unterrichtsstunden am Klavier. Als er dann in Mailand sein Studium beendete, ging er zurück in seine Heimat und begann an der "Juilliard School" ein Violinstudium unter Albert Spaulding und Hans Letz, zusätzlich aber nahm er auch Kompositionsstunden. In der Folge unterrichtete er dann Komposition am selben Institut und an zahlreichen anderen Schulen. Bei Gründung der "North Carolina School of Arts" hat er sich sehr eingesetzt und wurde auch dessen Präsident.

Vittorio Giannini studied in Milan and New York. His compositions include concertos for piano and organ, a symphony "In Memoriam Theodore Roosevelt", "Requiem", "Stabat Mater", sundry chamber music", and the operas Lucedia", "The Scarlet Letter", and "The Taming of the Shrew". He taught at Julliard and became the Head of the North Carolina School of the Arts. His other works for band include "Preludium and Allegro", "Dedication Overture", "Fantasia for Band", and "Variations and Fugue".
