Frederick Ellsworth Bigelow war von Beruf eigentlich ein Pharmazeut, doch als Klarinettist und Saxophonist war er schlichtweg fantastisch. Er spielte in der "Ashland, Massachusetts Brass Band" und später auch in der berühmten "Salem Cadet Band". Mit dieser Gruppe unternahm er 1896 auch eine Reise nach London, wo er auf Kommando der Königin Victoria am Windsor Castle auftrat. Zusätzlich zu "Our Director", komponierte Bigelow auch den berühmten "NC-4 March".

Frederick Ellsworth Bigelow was a pharmacist by profession but was an outstanding performer on clarinet and saxophone. He played in the "Ashland, Massachusetts Brass Band" and later in the famous Salem Cadet Band which made a voyage to London in 1896 to play a command performance for Queen Victoria at Windsor Castle. In addition to "Our Director", Bigelow also composed the well known "NC-4 March".
