Heskel Brisman wurde 1923 in New York City geboren und studierte in Juilliard, Yale und Columbia Musik. Zusätzliche Studien absolvierte er in Tanglewood mit Ernest Toch und mit Luigi Dallapiccolo in Italien. Viel Zeit verbrachte er im Ausland, wo er für Dokumentarfilme in Italien schrieb. Weiters arrangierte er für Theater und Radio in Israel. Während in Israel, fungierte er auch als Direktor des "Joseph Achron Conservatory". 1967 kehrte er dann in die Vereinigten Staaten zurück. Seine Musik wurde in ganz Amerika, sowie im Ausland aufgeführt. Zu einigen seiner Auszeichnungen gehören der "Berlin Prize" für Filmmusik, zwei "Harvey Gaul awards", sowie Preise von "NEA".

Heskel Brisman was born in New York City in 1923, and studied music at Juilliard, Yale, and Columbia. Additional studies were at Tanglewood with Ernest Toch, and with Luigi Dallapiccolo in Italy. He spent much of his life abroad, where he scored for documentary films in Italy and arranged for theater and radio in Israel. While in Israel, he was also the director of the Joseph Achron Conservatory. He returned to the United States in 1967. His music has been performed throughout the United States and abroad. Awards include the Berlin Prize for film scoring, two Harvey Gaul awards, and grants from the NEA and the Martha Baird Rockefeller Foundation.
