Frank Ticheli ist derzeit als fix angestellter Komponist des "Pacific Symphony Orchestra" tätig, sowie als stellvertretender Musikprofessor an der "University of Southern California". Geboren in Louisiana, absolvierte er seine musikalische Ausbildung an der "University of Michigan", wo er bei William Albright, George Wilson und den Pulitzer Preisträgern Leslie Bassett und Willian Bolcolm studierte. Seine Kompositionen für Windensemble und Konzertband brachten ihm viel Beifall ein, unter anderem den "Walter Beeler Prize for Music" im Jahre 1989 und den ersten Preis im elften "Symposium for New Band Music". Andere Ehrungen sind ein "Charles Ives Scholarship" und ein "Goddard Lieberson Fellowship", von der "American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters", sowie den "Ross Lee Finney Award". Zu seinen Stücken zählen "Postcard", "Gaian Visions", "Fortress" und "Cajun Folk Songs".

Frank Ticheli is currently Composer-in-Residence of the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, and Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Southern California. A native of Louisiana, Ticheli received his doctoral and masters degrees in composition from the University of Michigan where he studied with William Albright, George Wilson, and Pulitzer Prize winners Leslie Bassett and Willian Bolcom. His compositions for wind ensemble and concert band have brought him numerous accolades, including the 1989 Walter Beeler Prize for Music for Winds and Percussion, and First Prize in the eleventh annual "Symposium for New Band Music" with Concertino for Trombone and Band. Other honors include a Charles Ives Scholarship and a Goddard Lieberson Fellowship, both from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, the Ross Lee Finney Award, and a residency at the McDowell Colony. Other Ticheli band works include "Postcard", "Gaian Visions", "Fortress", and "Cajun Folk Songs".
