Name of the author: MANGANI, MICHELE
Additional information: Born in Urbino, he graduated from the "G. Rossini" Conservatory in Pesaro in Clarinet (1984), Band Instrumentation (1987), Composition (1990), and Orchestral Direction (1992). He graduated from the "G.B. Martini" Conservatory in Bologna in Choral Music and Chorus Direction (1998). Since 1985 he has directed the City Bands of Urbania, Cagli and Acqualagna and the Wind Orchestra of the Musical Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament in Urbino, with which he still works. In 1995/96 he attended the specialisation course in Orchestral Direction held by Maestro G. Dimitrov (in the Republic of San Marino) and during the same year he won the competitive examination to become Director of the National Italian Army Band. In addition to works for chamber music ensembles, his compositions include a number of original pieces and transcriptions for band. His work entitled Aubade was awarded a prize at the first national competition for original band compositions organised by the Aosta Valley "Fondazione Istituto Musicale", held at Pont S.Martin in January 2000. He currently directs the orchestra of the "Accademia Filarmonica Urbinate", plays with the "Orchestra Sinfonica Pesarese", and teaches the "Giovanile Orchestra di Fiati" of Ripatransone. He teaches ensemble music for wind instruments at the "G. Rossini" Conservatory in Pesaro and performs in concerts with various chamber music ensembles.
