Der andalusische Komponist Antonio Alvarez studierte am Konservatorium in Madrid, an dem er Erste Preise für Klavier, Orgel, Harmonielehre und Komposition bekam. Er dirigierte vor allem Zarzuelas (spanische Operetten), aber war auch Begleiter des berühmten Geigenvirtuosen Pablo de Sarasate. Er komponierte Zarzuelas, Pasodobles und Märsche.

The Andalusian composer Antonio Alvarez studied at the Madrid Conservatory of Music where he graduated with First Prizes for piano, organ, harmony and composition. He conducted mainly zarzuelas (Spanish operettas) but was also piano accompanist of the famous violin virtuoso Pablo de Sarasate. He composed zarzuelas, pasodobles and marches.
