Timothy Mahr machte sein "Bachelor of Music degree" im Fach Theorie und Komposition und einen "Bachelor of Arts degree" in Musikerziehung am "St. Olaf College" in Northfields, Minnesota. 1983 vollendete er sein "Master's degree" im Fach Posaune an der "University of Iowa" und 1995 einen "Doctor of Musical Arts" im Fach Instrumentaldirektion an derselben Institution. Drei Jahre lang unterrichtete Mahr Instrumentalmusik an der "Milaca High School" in Milaca, Minnesota. Mahr ist Preisträger des "1991 American Bandmasters Association Oswald Award" für seine Komposition "The Soaring Hawk". Er wurde 1993 als Mitglied in die "American Bandmasters Association" gewählt.

Timothy Mahr earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Theory and Composition and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. In 1983 he completed a Master's degree in Trombone Performance at the University of Iowa and then in 1995 a Doctor of Musical Arts in Instrumental Conducting from the same institution. For three years Mahr taught instrumental music at Milaca High School in Milaca, Minnesota. Well known as a composer, Mahr is the 1991 American Bandmasters Association Oswald Award winner for his composition "The Soaring Hawk". Mahr was elected to membership in the American Bandmasters Association in 1993.
