Fred J. Allen arbeitet derzeit als Bandleiter der "Stephen F. Austin State University" in Nacogdoches, Texas. Zusätzlich zu diesem Aufgabenbereich unterrichtet er auch noch Dirigieren und Musikerziehung in Kursen. Vorher unterrichtete er an der "Abilene Christian University" und elf Jahre lang in öffentlichen Schulen. Zu seinem speziellen Repertoire zählt die Literatur für Windbands und die Intonation von Windinstrumenten. TRN hat seine Bandstücke, die seine Erfahrungen mit den Schülern der öffentlichen Schulen zeigen, veröffentlicht. Seine Versuche auch bei jungen Musikern ausdrucksvolles Spiel innerhalb ihrer Möglichkeiten zu erzielen, hat ihm großen Erfolg eingebracht. Allen ist Mitglied der "College Band Directors National Association", der "Texas Music Educators Association" und der "Phi Beta Mu honory bandmasters fraternity".

Fred J. Allen is Director of Bands at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. In addition to his responsibilities with the band, he teaches conducting and music education classes. Prior to his current position, Allen taught at Abilene Christian University and for eleven years in public schools. His areas of specialisation include literature for bands and intonation of the wind instruments. TRN has published pieces for band by Fred J. Allen which draw upon his experience as a public school teacher. He attempts to present opportunities for expressive playing within the range and rhythm construction necessary for young instrumentalists. Allen is a member of College Band Directors National Association, Texas Music Educators Association, and Phi Beta Mu honory bandmasters fraternity.
