Additional information: Nach dem Ende des 2. Weltkrieges war der Einfluss Amerikas auf Europa sehr stark. In der Musik war der Jazz tonangebend. Große Big Bands, wie die von Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington und Count Basie waren sehr beeindruckend. Aus diesem Trend entwickelten sich auch sehr schnell europäische Bands von bemerkenswerter Qualität. Besonders die Rundfunktanzorchester der deutschen Sender, wie z.B. unter der Leitung von Kurt Edelhagen oder Erwin Lehn waren sehr erfolgreich. Außerdem gab es auch die sogenannten „Combos“: „Louis Armstrong and the Hot Seven“, das „Benny Goodman Sextet“ und der famose Lionel Hampton waren richtige Könige der Jazzmusik - also die „Kings of Swing“. Letztgenanntem ist auch dieses vorliegende „Solo for Percussion“ gewidmet.
