Additional information: The suite Samson, recently composed by Rob Goorhuis, is based on music from Händel's oratorio, Samson (1741). This opera, which unfortunately passed into oblivion, contains beautiful arias and choruses. Rob Goorhuis added some of his own ideas to the original concepts and created an attractive surprising suite consisting of four parts: 1. Ouverture - a festive, pompous beginning introduces a beautiful baroque suite. 2. Minuet - an old dance, originally from France, a fixed compound of a suite. Grace and elegancy are important ingredients in this colourful movement. 3. Air (Total Eclipse) - a very fine aria composed in A-B-A format, like many arias by Händel and Bach (Da Capo aria). 4. Air (Honour and Arms) - a fast and festive aria concludes this suite Samson.
