The Ballet Gayaneh was composed by Khachaturian in 1940 for the Direction of Kirov Opera and Ballet Theatre of Leningrad.In this ballet there is the Sabre Dance about which the same Khachaturian said: "My Sabre Dance came into being quite by accident". Nowadays this dance is Khachaturian's most famous composition.
