Additional information: ~Sanctuary wurde für H. Robert Reynolds als Symbol einer dauerhaften Freundschaft komponiert. Das Werk wurde von der Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association in Auftrag gegeben und von der University of Michigan Symphony Band uraufgeführt. Reynolds leitete 26 Jahre lang die Universitätskapelle von Michigan. Da Reynolds Hornist war, wird das Horn als "wichtigster musikalischer Bote" eingesetzt. Das Hauptmotiv von Sanctuary leitet sich von den Buchstaben des Vornamens von Herrn Reynolds ab - Harrah.
