Additional information: ~Uraufführung am 24. Oktober 1885, Theater an der Wien. Johann Strauß komponierte diese Operette in einer für ihn ungewöhnlich langen Zeit von zwei Jahren. Neben „Die Fledermaus“ und eine Nacht in Venedig, wurde „Der Zigeuenerbaron“ einer seiner größten Bühnenerfolge. Erst im Jahr 1910 wurde die Operette an der Semperoper in Dresden und an der Wiener Staatsoper aufgeführt.
