Additional information: ~Kago-me, Kago-me has long been sung as a Japanese nursery rhyme; its history extends at least to the middle of the Edo period (circa 1700) and the days of the Samurai. The melody comes from a pentatonic scale particular to Japan, reminiscent of a less complicated era. Powerful Japanese drum sounds, hand clapping and shouts are added to the theme to form a compelling feel of simplicity. This is an excellent world music teaching tool, with lyrics and explanation.
