Additional information: ~Composed for the CD project “Time of Evocation III” (OSBR-31025/Brain Music), this piece was premiered at the 3rd Sunazaleas Wind Orchestra Festival by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Eastern Army Band under the baton of Mamoru Tamura. The band recorded the full CD.
This is an arrangement of a work done for Nagisa Brass Solisten, originally for percussion and brass. The title is “WATATSUMI” Two Fragments for Percussion and Brass Ensemble. WATATSUMI is the archaic word of KAIJIN. WATA (KAI) means the sea. MI (JIN) is god. WATATSUMI is described in Japanese mythology as god of the sea.
There are two sections to this work. The dichotomy of contrasting styles such as static and dynamic, and positive and negative depicts the infinitely diverse character of the sea. The two sections are performed without pausing between
