Additional information: Obwohl César Franck schon während seiner Studienzeit einen Preis nach dem anderen gewann, bekam er doch erst zu späteren Lebzeiten die Anerkennung, die er eigentlich verdiente. Von seinen Zeitgenossen kaum wahrgenommen, genießt César Franck und seine religiös gefärbte, poetische, fast düstere Musik heute große Bewunderung. Panis Angelicus, das Philip Sparke arrangierte, ist zweifellos die beliebteste Komposition von Franck.
